Among the attributions of the Secretariat of Social Assistance are:
It is the responsibility of the Department of Social Assistance to assist the citizen of Guaíba with professionalism,
enabling social rights established in laws. The Secretariat has the institutional mission of formulating, implementing, regulating, financing, executing, monitoring and evaluating the Municipal Social Assistance Policy as an integral part of the Single Social Assistance System (SUAS).

Its scope of action is that of Social Security, which, according to the Federal Constitution, is composed of three areas of public policy: health, social security and welfare.

The Consolidation of the Single Social Assistance System (SUAS) highlights the reorganization of protection services, territorialisation of actions and increased federal co-financing.

Responsibilities:

General Institute of Skills - Issuance of the Identity Card;

Forwarding of the Intermunicipal Free Pass Portfolio - FADERS;

Benefits provided:

The Continuous Benefit Benefit (BPC) is a benefit of social assistance, part of the Unified Social Assistance System - SUAS, paid by the Federal Government and guaranteed by law that allows the elderly and disabled person the minimum conditions of a decent life.

In order to be entitled to BPC, it is not necessary that the beneficiary has already contributed to Social Security.

Possible benefits:

Food aid;

Clothing;

Funeral assistance;

Transportation of children with disabilities to rehabilitation treatment.
